F01
Introduction to Fundamo

About this
course

The course provides an overview of the Fundamo universe. The course content includes:
  • An introduction to the concepts of Electronic Commerce and Mobile Commerce
  • The Fundamo Business Model and a description of the various roles played by stakeholders in the Fundamo universe
  • An overview of the Fundamo Product Rules and Operating Principals
  • A brief overview of the Fundamo Architecture and protocol set
  • An introduction to the Fundamo Payment Gateway Deployment methodology

Who should attend this course

This course is a standard introduction to Fundamo. It is required by all individuals who will be working with Fundamo in some way. It is also the first course required in the Certification Framework administered by Fundamo.

The course is required training for :

  • Fundamo Systems Integrators, including management and IT consultants, implementation specialists, and change management consultants.
  • Trainers and lecturers who will either be offering accredited public Fundamo courses, or who will be training staff in the various stakeholder organisations

The course will also be extremely useful for

  • Management, marketing and sales personnel in organisations operating the Fundamo Payment Gateway
  • Managers and support staff in distributor companies
  • Merchants in the merchant network
  • Developers of third party applications for Electronic Commerce, who wish tointegrate their products and software with the Fundamo mobile payments system.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, delegates should be able to:

  • understand the nature of Electronic and Mobile Commerce
  • explain what Fundamo is
  • understand and be able to describe the business model and the role of the various stakeholders in the Fundamo universe
  • understand what Fundamo Product Rules and Operating principles are defined by the Fundamo Architecture
  • identify the many different applications for a mobile, authenticated payments mechanism
  • describe the basic product architecture and the function of the various embedded protocols
  • the basis of the envisaged deployment approach.

Pre-requisite courses

There are no prerequisite courses for this course. It is anticipated that the audience for this course is knowledgeable about Information Technology, and has some appreciation for communications technology and Electronic Commerce.

About this
course

This course provides a thorough grounding of the architecture of the Fundamo Platform. In particular, the course focuses on the internal functionality and structure of an implementation of Fundamo, as well as the structure of each of the protocols that allow Fundamo to interface to various devices and environments.

The course content includes:
  • An introduction and overview of the Fundamo architecture
  • An overview of the various enabling technologies that underpin Mobile Commerceplatforms like Fundamo
  • A detailed description of the internal functionality and structure of Fundamo,including its object model and high level use cases
  • The product rules which govern the implementation of Fundamo
  • The structure and the message formats used in Fundamo
  • The various protocols use to initiate, execute and complete a Fundamo transaction.
  • The various protocols that allow Fundamo to interoperate with other instances of Fundamo, as well as external environments

Who should attend this course

This course is a detailed description of the Fundamo architecture. It is required by all individuals who will be implementing or training in the Fundamo environment. It is also a required course in the Certification Framework administered by Fundamo (Pty) Ltd.

The course is therefore prescribed for people who wish to obtain a Fundamo Certification qualification. This should ultimately include all consultants who will be working with Fundamo and need an in depth understanding of the architecture and its components.

The course is required training for :

  • Fundamo consultants, including Systems Integrators, management and
    implementation specialists.
  • Trainers and lecturers who will either be offering certified public Fundamo courses, or who will be training staff in the various stakeholder organisations
  • Developers of third party applications for Electronic Commerce, who wish to integrate their products and software with a Fundamo's mobile payments system.

The course will also be useful for anyone who requires a more in depth knowledge of the Fundamo architecture than is provided in the Overview course.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, delegates should be able to

  • Describe the Fundamo Architecture and its various components
  • Describe the internal structure and functionality prescribed by the Fundamo Product Architecture
  • Describe the product rules which govern the implementation of Fundamo

This course is a complete guide to the design and implementation of a Fundamo Payment Gateway. It is required by all individuals who will be working with a company to implement a Fundamo Payment Gateway.

The course is required training for :

  • Fundamo Payment Gateway implementation specialists (Systems Integrators).
  • Trainers and lecturers who will either be offering accredited public Fundamo courses, or who will be training staff in the various stakeholder organizations.

The course will also be extremely useful for:

  • marketing and sales personnel in Payment Gateway Companies

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, delegates should have an understanding of the issues involved in the design and implementation of a Fundamo Payment Gateway solution. This understanding would include:

Prerequisite courses

Delegates are required to have attended and successfully completed F01 Introduction to Fundamo before attending this course, or are expected to have the equivalent knowledge and practical experience.

Approach

The learning approach on this course is effected by

  • Instructor-led seminars that describe the theoretical foundations
  • A Business Case implementation workshop where ideas and concepts can be discussed.

Debate, discussion and interaction with the presenter are encouraged.

Assessment

Assessment of attendees understanding of the material presented will be done by the lecturer in terms of participation and contribution to the case study workshop

The Fundamo Course Curriculum

This course will run as a follow up to the F01 - Introduction to Fundamo course. The ultimate aim is that all Fundamo accredited consultants will attend all required courses (including the FPG Design and Implementation Guide). However consultants who will purely be involved in Fundamo Payment Gateway organisation implementations may not need this in depth understanding of the underlying architecture.
