Code Of Ethics


Any person or company seeking contact with Fundamo is entitled to know our ethical and moral principles upfront. The Fundamo Code of Ethics explains these principles in clear and simple terms.

Scope and Application.

This Code applies to all Fundamo employees, contractors and outsourced vendors in South Africa and abroad.

All of Fundamo´s business entities, directors, employees and appointees must abide by the Code.

Our Approach to Business Ethics.

  • While we operate and compete in a free-enterprise environment, we obey the relevant laws and conduct our business ethically.
  • Ethical business conduct, for Fundamo, is based on good faith, honesty and reliability.
  • Ethical business transactions promote a fair exchange of value or satisfaction of need. The creation of profit is a legitimate component of this exchange and an incentive to continue in business.
  • Other than legal and ethical behaviour, we expect no favours from our competitors, nor should they expect any from us.
  • We expect equivalent standards of ethical behaviour from those with whom we deal.
  • We strive for excellence in our ethical standards, as in any other aspect of our activities.
  • We are committed to sound corporate governance and do not tolerate corruption.

The Fundamo Code of Ethics outlines our core values and describes our relationships with our stakeholders:

  • our clients,
  • our shareholders,
  • the public (including the communities in which we operate),
  • our employees,
  • our suppliers.

The Code focuses on our obligations to stakeholders, and not on rights. We will strive at all times to fulfil these obligations.

Our Obligations

We recognise that we have obligations towards various stakeholders. We also recognise that at times our obligations towards different parties may conflict, and that it is our responsibility to seek an appropriate balance between the parties´ interests.

The State

We will:

  • obey the laws of our country of residence and of the countries in which we do business.
  • cooperate with all supervisory and regulatory bodies duly appointed for our industries.
  • contribute to the development of our nation and all its people, and cooperate with any reasonable government initiative that has this aim.
  • exercise with care any power or influence that we hold.

Our Clients

We will:

  • honour our contractual obligations.
  • develop long-term business relationships with a view to creating value for our stakeholders.
  • develop our employees and representatives to be proficient and professional in the execution of their roles.
  • deal with our clients in shared confidence, and ensure that access to confidential information is appropriately restricted.
  • provide and participate in effective mechanisms to resolve any difficulties.


We will:

  • acknowledge our shareholders´ entitlement to a reasonable return on their investment.
  • safeguard the business and its assets, and embrace the principles of sound corporate governance and zero tolerance.
  • apply appropriate internal operating and financial controls.
  • communicate with shareholders regularly, clearly and honestly.
  • foster a positive and authentic and public image.

Our Employees

We will:

  • treat our employees with respect and courtesy.
  • not discriminate unfairly on the grounds of race, gender, sex, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, religion, conscience, belief, political opinion, culture, language or family responsibility.
  • remunerate our employees fairly according to their market value, performance, and relevant skills and experience.
  • provide training and development opportunities appropriate to their needs, ambitions and abilities in line with the requirements of the organisation.
  • participate in nation building by providing appropriate opportunities to a diverse range of talent reflecting the demographics of the communities in which we operate.
  • provide a safe working environment.
  • expect our employees and representatives to honour the provisions and spirit of this Code of Ethics during their employment with Fundamo.


We will:

  • deal with our suppliers fairly in all respects.
  • pay promptly for goods and services delivered in accordance with our contractual obligations.
  • not accept any enticements that could prejudice our judgment of the terms of our business relationship.
  • provide training and awareness, where appropriate, to our staff to better understand the needs, aspirations and capabilities of our suppliers.

The Public

We will:

  • communicate with integrity.
  • not knowingly mislead in our advertising, marketing.
  • not abuse the public´s trust.
  • make a meaningful contribution to the communities within which we operate.

Contravention and Remedies: Unethical behaviour at Fundamo will always be dealt with consistently and decisively.
