Hannes founded Fundamo in 2000. With Hannes at the helm, Fundamo launched the world's first mobile financial services deployment in 2002 with Celpay in Zambia.

Hannes is widely considered to be the pioneer of mobile banking.

Following the acquisition of Fundamo by Visa in 2011, Hannes was promoted to Group Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa. His responsibilities now include Visa's strategic development and business performance in the region, as well as maintaining his leadership of Fundamo. Hannes leads Visa's efforts to drive financial inclusion in emerging markets

Prior to Fundamo, Hannes was the CIO of the Sanlam Group, a leading financial services company, and a past board member of a number of IT-related companies. Hannes has BSc degrees in Physics and Chemistry as well as in Information Systems, and an MSc in Reactor Physics. He is a member of the South African Council of Natural Sciences, the Computer Society of South Africa and The South African Institute of Computer Scientists. He is also one of the founders of the Cape IT Initiative (CITI).

As well as the author of a widely read blog on mobile banking, Hannes is an active participant in mobile banking conferences globally.

Aletha Ling joined Fundamo as Chief Operating Officer in 2005 to pursue the phenomenal opportunity in the mobile financial services market. Aletha has been instrumental in establishing Fundamo as one of the largest specialist mobile financial services company in the world.

Aletha has more than thirty years of experience in the IT industry and a wealth of expertise in technology, sales, marketing and management. During her career Aletha has been an entrepreneur, a successful executive in one of the largest companies in the world, and safely navigated a listed company through its most turbulent years.

Prior to joining Fundamo, Aletha built a successful career at IBM, heading up the company's Software Business. In 1993 she left IBM to pursue her passion for entrepreneurship.

In the following years, Aletha established herself as a 'serial innovator', founding, nurturing and selling a number of ventures in various industries such as healthcare, financial services and presentation services. Innovative software company, Software Futures, was particularly successful and was sold to a conglomerate at the height of the dot.com boom. Aletha has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Futureworld, a global business thinktank.

Gavin Krugel is the Chief Customer Strategy Officer at Fundamo, a Visa Company. Prior to joining Fundamo Krugel founded TroyTyla, a diversified group of entrepreneurial companies in the professional services, online media, mobile application design, and wholesale food and drink industries. Gavin was also a Senior Director at the GSMA, where he has led the mobile industries efforts in entering adjacent industries such as financial services, including international remittances and banking the unbanked, and healthcare. His career includes financial institutions, global services providers, and start-up Cointel/Simplus which was successfully sold into the Vodacom Group. Gavin studied Strategic Leadership in Microfinance at Harvard Business School and has an MBA in Global Business Management at the Grenoble Graduate School of Business.

Jan Schoombee is the Chief Financial Officer for Fundamo, a Visa Company. Jan has over 14 years work experience in banking and professional services. Jan started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cape Town and New York specialising in Media, Technology and Advertising. Jan has an extensive background leading new business, product development, specialised finance and business case implementation initiatives in the financial services space. Prior to joining Fundamo, Jan worked at First National Bank as an executive in the commercial and business banking market segments, where his last role was the Head of Transactional and Investment Products. Jan holds a Bachelor of Accounting with Honours degree from University of Stellenbosch and a Post-graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from UNISA and is a qualified chartered accountant.

Adriaan Tromp is the Chief of Staff for Fundamo, a Visa Company. Adriaan has 16 years of combined financial and operational experience working within global technology companies such as Yahoo!, ICO Global Communications and Leisureplanet.com. He is a qualified charted accountant and holds a Bachelor degree in accounting, Honours in Business and Administration, and an MBA, obtained from the University of Stellenbosch. As Chief of Staff, Adriaan looks after the finance and operations functions within Fundamo. Adriaan, who is a passionate golfer, joined Fundamo in September 2000.

Susan Fouche is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Fundamo, a Visa Company. Susan has an HR career spanning over 15 years in a number of Multinational organisations. Prior to joining Fundamo Susan held the position of Chief of Staff: Group Human Resources, at Absa Bank, where she managed the office of the Group HR Director. She has previously worked for Commerzbank AG and Barclays PLC, in a range of roles such as Head of Human Resources, Pan-African HR Business Partner and Senior Policy and Diversity Consultant. Susan is a qualified Organisational Development Practitioner and a graduate from the Northwest University. Susan joined Fundamo in 2009.

Frans Roos is the Chief Professional Services Officer for Fundamo, a Visa Company. Frans has over 18 years work experience in the electronics, space, telecommunications, military systems, financial services and IT industries. Before joining Fundamo, Frans held various executive positions at VenFin companies I to I Technologies and CommsCo, including CIO and Head of Professional Services. Before that, Frans worked for systems integrators Dimension Data and BSW, and for Sanlam in Project and Programme Manager roles implementing large systems both locally and internationally. Prior to joining the IT industry, Frans spent 5 years involved with complex military systems development, including the first SA satellite at Denel. Frans holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, and a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, both obtained at the University of Pretoria.

Cedric Franz is the Chief Technology Officer for Fundamo, a Visa Company. Cedric has over 18 years experience of software development experience in the financial services sector. He spent the early part of his career working at large multinational organisations in London such as the American Institute for Foreign Studies, Royal Mail, Macquarie Group and Nomura Investment Bank. After returning back to Cape Town in 2000, he joined Fundamo as the software architect to develop their mobile payments platform. Cedric holds a Bachelor's degree of Science with a major in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town.
